Firstly if you are new to Internet Marketing, Blogging, or starting out as a lifestyle entrepreneur,
you may need me to explain what a back-link is.
It is a link from another site in the same or similar niche as your own.
Look around a blog, scroll down to the comments, you will see that if you were to click on a commentors name you will end up on that persons blog or website.

are meant to help with SEO and site rankings,Backlinks

whether they do or not, they actually create traffic between the sites.
So you can comment on a forum and if it is allowed in that particular forum you can have a link to your site there too.
So initially I started blog commenting and forum commenting under the advice of one of my mentors as a way of generating traffic.
I found it hard at first, I got lost in the great information that I was reading on other peoples blog’s,
I found some really good advice on the forum’s too.

For someone who is Goal driven

It can feel  like you are going around in Circles because you are spending more time reading than writing any posts on your blog or comments on other peoples.
This leads to frustration. I was spending hours to try and do a task that I wasn’t completing.
Do you ever get frustrated?

How I deal with offline frustration

I go to a quiet place with a pen and paper and write down the reason for my frustration, I write down the cause and effect, then I ask the right questions.frustrated

  • What do I Want To Achieve?
  • Why Do I Want To Achieve This?
  • How Can I Solve This Problem?
  • How Would An Expert Solve It?
  • What Are Smaller Steps I Can Take To Give Me Checkpoints?
  • How Long Shall I Give Myself On Each Task?

The answers just appear on paper, away from the distractions of text, whatsapp, skype, twitter and facebook.

I realised the problem!

The original reason that I was trying to comment was to generate traffic.
So I was going onto blogs and forums trying to add comments to things that I was still unsure of myself then getting stuck, big mistake right?

Brian Tracy “Successful people are always looking for opportunities to help others. Unsuccessful people are always asking, ‘What’s in it for me?”

So I started searching for posts that I could actually add value and genuinely help people with the comments I made. This changed everything for me.
Another problem was that I was spending too long in front of a screen.
So I solved that situation by timing my tasks into hour sessions and when the alarm goes off
I stop, go for a WEE, have a WALK, get some WATER. WWW lol!
Then after around 15 minutes I set the alarm for another hour and get back on to the next task refreshed.

This method is taken from Alex Jeffreys module on Forward To Basics through http://easycashwebinar.org.uk one of my most valuable investments to date.

So the transformation has been fantastic and I Really look forward to helping people everyday. You will too!
What you will notice next as you start to provide value on other peoples blogs and in forums,
other blog owners start to do the same to yours and before you know it you are making friends and building a network of like minded people.
The advantages to this are:

  • You are in contact with people who are like minded and therefore can share ideas and learn from each other.
  • You start to increase traffic to your blog and build your following.
  • You start learning added information that you can apply and therefore increase your knowledge.
  • You are actually building a network of people who could be future JV partners.
  • You are creating your very own mastermind group as each one of the friends that make will have different strengths and weaknesses.

It is important that you enjoy what you are doing and that you are doing it for the right reasons. This will increase your production in anything that you do.

    Hi Gary

I’ve not done much in the way of forum commenting but when one of my links was shared in the Warrior Forum a few months back I got a tonne of traffic from it.

I do get quite a bit of traffic from blog commenting though and the best way to do it is the way you’ve suggested.

Find other blogs in your niche bigger and smaller than yours and add value to their posts with a well written comment.

It sounds like a good plan to concentrate for an hour then go for a wee and have a break!

That way, you’re more switched on when you get back to your computer!

    • Gary says:

      Hi Tim,
Yeah I find the hour of focused task, is much more productive.
How could that fit into your day?
Would you do it while the children are in school or after bedtime?

      Thanks for your comment

    Hey Gary,

Sorry I didn’t make it by yesterday, I ran out of time working on a project.

I too haven’t visited any forums. Long story but bad experience with them when I first started so I much prefer visiting blogs for my inspiration.

You can waste a lot of time though on things that in the long run won’t benefit you but I think it’s like you pointed out here. This is all a learning experience so we have to find what works for us and what doesn’t. A lot of things can be big time wasters if we aren’t careful.

I too take several breaks throughout my day. The good thing about me is my faithful companion is my dog and she needs to go out several times a day plus I make a point to walk for 30 minutes everyday too so I get those breaks. I also get away from my desk for lunch and dinner so I’m not stuck here just working my little fingers off. That in itself can be tiring.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us because I know we can all learn from others.

      Hi Adrienne,
There is no need for you to apologize, I really appreciate your comments.
I do agree there are a lot of things that can turn out to be time wasters. I wasted a lot of time attempting to comment on blogs at first.
Then as soon as i changed my approach, it worked so much better.
I like your approach to breaks, thank you for your input.

    Hi Gary,

Getting links, commenting, reading and connecting socially can be a lot of work and your ideas are certainly helpful, especially your idea about not just finding blogs to comment on but find blog post that can really add value to.

When you’re working to create quality backlinks writing guest posts is another great way to get backlinks. But the best way to get the most link juice is having your text link in the content of an authority site. A little tougher to achieve but writing great content is where to start.

    Great post Gary,

      Hi Liz,

What a great tip, i had not thought about writing a guest post yet.

Thank you for your kind comments

    Hi Gary,

I believe that we are all in this together. We’re all sharing the same space. There’s plenty of abundance to go around and by coming together as entrenpuers and helping each other out by commenting and adding value, the long term compound effects will be a win-win situation for everyone involved.

With that being said, if you had value to someone’s blog and it backlinks back to your site, it’s a win-win. Increase in traffic, looks good to google because they want more engagement.

Everything you do in life, provided that you have the right intentions, everything reciprocates.

    Awesome post, Gary!

      Hey Nate,

    • Gary says:

      Hey Ade,
Definitely try to visit warrior forum, it will help you a lot
      Thank you for your input

Hi Gary, Thanks for your post on backlinks, I am more of a blog hopper myself, After reading your post i think it is about time i stepped into some forums as there seems to be some value there, I have always put forum traffic off as i believed that you could waste time there. Seems like that is not the case.
Thanks again and all the best for your journey.

      Hi Shelley,
Visiting forums can USE a lot of your time up as there is so much value and great advice.
Notice I said use rather than waste your time.
That is because if you are learning, you are progressing and moving forward, true?
This information can give you ideas.
It is imperetive that you go with a plan of action and allocate a certain amount of time to these tasks.
Set your alarm clock to stop the task when it goes off.
As you get more experience at writing comments you will get more done in the same time.
You will also start to see results.
Thanks for popping by and contributing.

I always thought that’s what back-links were, but there was always so much talk about them so I thought maybe there was more to it than that (like some kind of HTML technical thing). Great tips I am going to try the 1 hour at a time.
