Goals give us direction.Goals Give Direction

Without a goal we are lost, they give us a reason to push through our failures and setbacks.
They give us a map to get to our destination quicker. They prevent us from procrastinating.
There are so many people who go through life without goals and never achieve their dreams.
Make sure you write your goals down every day, they will give you clarity and purpose.

Avoid Your Own Roadblocks

Avoid your own roadblocks

For some reason we actually get in our own way of success without even trying to.
Crazy but true. I learned something amazing that you should try.
Write down everything you do throughout an average day, I mean everything.
Even going to the toilet. Document it making a note of times how long you took etc.
After a few days you can look at it and see how much time you actually waste in a day doing completely random and unproductive things,
you know like reading emails that are selling you the next big push button turn-key software that promises to make you a gazillion dollars in 2 seconds flat.
It is scary sh*t. But it is better to know your weaknesses so you can improve them.

Go the shortest Route

Don’t get me wrong we need some fun in our lives too but imagine this.
If we could just focus on one hour blocks spread through the day where we work on one productive task.
For that hour we put our phone on silent, turn skype and facebook off and become completely undistracted.
Set the alarm on your phone to tell you when your hour is up and whether you finish the task or not,
then stop for 10 minutes, get a drink go the toilet, have a walk.
Then repeat the process 3 more times that means we would be more productive than 95% of the world population.
We would get more done in a fortnight than they would in a year. How powerful is that?
By sticking to this system you actually have more time to do the things that you really want to do instead of wasting it!

I urge you to try it and see for yourself.

    Hi Gary,

Awesome post you have written here. I do believe that getting what you want doesn’t always come easy. More often than not, you’ve got to work hard to achieve the results you desire.

Still, there’s another very helpful but often overlooked way to reach your aspirations. It’s a process called goal-setting, and for people who achieve what they set out for, it’s the one thing most of them have in common. They most likely charted out a long-term plan; mapped out the times, tasks and deadlines along the way; and stuck firmly to their plan in order to achieve their goals. “People never plan to fail; they just fail to plan” (or set goals).

You rock my friend, thanks for sharing your insights!

      Hey Nate,

Goals are the definitely the difference between achieving something or not.
      They help us take action
In this age of technology, there are so many forms of information coming at us from all directions.
Facebook alerts, twitter alerts, skype, e-mails to name but a few.
It is so important that when we are performing a productive task that we ignore them for the time period we have set aside for that task.
I call it “Action Without Distraction” ©
      It definitely works.
Thank you very much for your kind words
